In the winter months, you will need to abide by snow tire and chain laws. From October 15 to April 15, you will be allowed to have studs on your tires. These can be rubber or of any other material as long as they do not damage the road. In particular areas during snowstorms, you may also be required to use snow chains if you wish to drive in that area.

Federal laws include being a minimum of 21 to drive interstate. You also need to be a minimum of 21 to drive any hazardous materials.

Additional federal laws include what is posted by the Department of Transportation, which can change from time to time. You will be unable to drive more than 14 hours in a row without breaking. This means that you will have to record your time on the road and make sure to take a break of 10 hours or longer before going back on the road. If you drive daily, you will also be unable to work more than 70 hours in an 8-day period.
