TRANSPORT AMERICA COMPANY DRIVERS – NEW PAY PACKAGE

Transport America will have a new pay structure that will be phased in over the next 6-12 months. In the first phase, all solo OTR company drivers will receive at least a $0.01/mile increase for all paid miles. This will come into effect on July 31, 2011. There are more phases to come and the details of those phases will be communicated as they come into effect. In addition, we will be evaluating all segments of our business (including team operations, dedicated, regional, and local) as part of this analysis.


NEW POLICY: No more than 2 moving violations and/or preventable accidents in the past 3 years.

Requirements: School graduates - Transport America currently requires a minimum of 6 months recent solo experience. Please feel free to check back for posted updates regarding inexperienced drivers.

Driver Referral Bonus: $500 (pay out $250 and $250)

All Owner Operators will receive a $0.02/mile increase for all paid miles. In addition, all Owner Operators with a valid HazMat endorsement will receive an additional $0.02/mile on all paid miles. So, many Owner Operators will receive a total of a $0.04/mile increase. This will come into effect on July 3, 2011.

Age- Minimum 21

Must be able to read/speak the English language

One valid driver license issued by state of residence (if not must have transfer request 30 days from hire date)
1 year required driving experience with US standard license prior to obtaining a CDL

Hazmat is recommended not required - must get within 45 days of hire.

No positive and /or refusals on drug/alcohol testing -Ever in a lifetime

Must not be on probation or parole for a period of one (1) year from application date

Must maintain a 1 year DOT physical

No more than 6 jobs in the past 3 years

Must be able to meet requirements of the job description

No serious violations in a personal/ commercial motor vehicle in the past (1) year. Rest of MVR must be clean.
Violations/Accidents involving a fatality will be reviewed.

15 mph or over

Improper / erratic lane change

Follow to closely

A violation arising in connection with a fatality accident- will be reviewed

Driving a CMV w/o obtaining a CDL
No more than three (3) moving violations or 2 preventable accidents or a combination of 3 within the last 3 years.

Cannot have more than 2 accidents with the combination. Off highway incidents will be considered in the "Big Picture" of driver's history.

No major accidents within the last (1) year- Subject to review by Recruiting Director, Operations Director or

Safety Director pending the driver has been working with a major carrier since this offense Major Accidents- U-turn involving an accident, Rollover, Drop Trailer, Roll away, Jackknife, Railroad Crossing.

Have no license revocations or suspension for moving violations within last 3 yrs. Subject to review by
Recruiting Director, Operations Director of Safety Director.

No eluding a police officer cited offense in the past (7) yrs

Has no record of violating an "out of service" order while operating a CMV within the last 3 yrs

No convictions/pending charges for leaving the scene of an accident last 5 yrs

No felony convictions/pending charges in a lifetime for operating a CMV while under the influence of alcohol, amphetamines, narcotic drugs, or any other controlled substance or any derivative thereof.

DUI/DWI- Single conviction over 5 Years- Subject to review- Recruiting Director, Operations Director or Safety Director.

No felony convictions or pending charges within the last 7 yrs. Subject to review by Recruiting Director,

Operations Director or Safety Director. Following offenses can be reviewed: domestic assault, aggravated assault, embezzlement, burglary or theft, receiving stolen property, child support. etc.

No misdemeanor convictions/pending charges in a lifetime for operating a CMV while under the influence of alcohol, amphetamines, narcotic drugs, or any other controlled substance or any derivative thereof.

DUI/DWI- Single conviction over 5 Years- Subject to review by Recruiting Director, Operations Director or Safety Director.

No misdemeanor convictions or pending charges within the last 5 yrs. Subject to review by Recruiting Director, Operations Director or Safety Director. If any of the above qualifications are deliberately concealed, it will be considered a falsification of the application and grounds for a decision not to select an applicant. It will also be ground for termination, if the information is found to be false after the applicant is hired
