Home Time
We understand home time is very important. With Shaffer Trucking, you will be able to choose between 3 options depending on where you live. We can get you home every 21 days, 12 days or weekly.

Family Rider Policy
Shaffer Trucking has one of the more progressive rider policies in the trucking industry, allowing specific family members to ride along at no cost to the driver. Authorized passengers under the family rider policy are:

1. Spouse, which includes "common law" spouse where permitted by law;
2. Spouse and one child, foster child, stepchild or grandchild not over 18 years of age, and
3. One child, foster child, stepchild or grandchild 5 to 18 years of age.

Generally, we allow only one authorized passenger on the truck at any time except children age four or younger who must be accompanied on the truck by the driver's spouse. All authorized passengers must be cleared and authorized by the Safety Department before getting on the truck.

Orientation
As part of the employment process, all company driver employee applicants cleared for hire by Shaffer Trucking will be required to attend a two-day orientation in New Kingstown, PA, Lincoln, NE or Marietta, GA. Transportation, lodging, plus $140.00 to company drivers will be paid by the company upon successful completion of orientation.

E-ZPass/I-Pass
The company utilizes the E-ZPass transponder for ease in paying tolls in those locations where E-ZPass is authorized. This includes the Illinois toll road where I-Pass is operational. While your truck will have an assigned E-ZPass transponder, not all travel on toll roads or turnpikes is authorized. Toll roads, and turnpikes which are authorized, are approved at time of dispatch by virtue of being included within the suggested fuel routing you receive via Qualcomm.

Haz Mat Reimbursement
(Haz Mat process must start within 45 day of employment)
The company pays its DOT qualified Company Drivers and Owner/Operators the sum of $100 to reimburse them a portion of the cost associated with securing the renewed Haz Mat endorsement. The payment is made at the time the renewed endorsement is presented to the Safety Department.
